COVID-19 update: Oldest patient discharged from hospital

Hoa extended thanks to the doctors for successful treatment. 

Director of HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases Nguyen Vinh Chau said that the patient has been tested negative for COVID-19 on February 12. 

Hoa is the oldest COVID-19 patient in Viet Nam and the third in Ho Chi Minh City. The others are two Chinese nationals who were cleared of the virus and discharged from the hospital. 

Hoa took flight from the U.S. to Ho Chi Minh City on January 15 with two-hour transit at Wuhan Airport. On January 27, he started coughing and was sent to the hospital on January 31 with high fever and lot of coughs. 

Viet Nam has successfully cured 15 out of 16 COVID-19 patients. The last one, aged 50, is being treated in the northern province of Vinh Phuc. 

According to Municipal Disease Control Center, there have been no new suspected cases in the city while 32 others tested negative for the virus./.
