Senior officials to discuss ASEAN economic integration next week

VGP – The 37th meeting of the High-level Taskforce on ASEAN economic integration (HLTF-EI) will take place in Ha Noi on February 12-13, according to the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry.

The event, which draws the participation of Deputy Secretary General of ASEAN and other senior economic officials from ASEAN member countries, will develop and discuss recommendations and strategies on intra and extra economic integration vision.

Specifically, the participants will focus on topics: (i) economic cooperation priorities for 2020; (ii) mid-term review of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Blueprint 2025; (iii) ASEAN strategy in the advent of the 4^th Industrial Revolution; and (iv) ASEAN legal document management system.

Viet Nam initiated the theme “Cohesive and Responsive” for ASEAN Chairmanship 2020, in which Cohesive reflects the need to enhance ASEAN unity and solidarity, economic integration, ASEAN awareness and identity, and work toward a “people-centered” community.

Meanwhile, Responsive underlines the importance of promoting ASEAN pro-activeness, creativity and capacity in response to opportunities and challenges brought about by rapid changes in regional and global landscape./.
