VN, Russia exchange congratulatory messages on 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties

VGP – Top leaders of Viet Nam and Russia have exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion of the 70th founding anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries (January 30, 2020).

Specifically, Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan of Viet Nam have exchanged congratulations with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko and Chairman of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin.

In his message to Russian President V. Putin, Vietnamese Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted that over the past nearly century, Vietnamese and Russian people have stood side by side, from the battle to protect Moscow in the winter of 1941 to the struggle for national liberation and reunification in Viet Nam, as well as during the cause of national defense and development.

In their messages, Trong together with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan described the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Viet Nam and Russia as an invaluable asset that Vietnamese leaders and people are resolved to preserve and promote. The bilateral ties are the premise for both countries to further deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Meanwhile, President Putin underlined the true friendship and alliance between the two countries over the past seven decades.

“We have always been alongside each other during the hardest years of Viet Nam’s struggle for national independence and freedom and the latter period of national reconstruction,” he wrote.

Leaders of the two countries expressed their pleasure at vigorous growth of the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership over the past time.

Rusian Prime Minister M. Mishustin said both countries have successfully deployed a number of big projects in such fields like energy, industry, infrastructure, science, culture among others.

The Viet Nam Year in Russia and the Russia Year in Viet Nam in 2019-2020 have contributed to enriching the content of the bilateral ties, according Mishustin.

The sides’ leaders affirmed their resolve to further deepen the bilateral ties in a practical manner for the sake of the two countries’ people and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also exchanged congratulations with Russian Foreign Minister S. Lavrov./.
