The beauty of Non Nuoc Mountain.

Coming to Ninh Binh, tourists will find themselves surprised and attracted by the beautiful landscape here. Non Nuoc Mountain, which has many poems carved on its cliffs, possesses a naturally enchanting beauty with a unique natural landscape that could amaze all visitors.

Non Nuoc Mountain is located at the junction of the Van River and Day River in Thanh Binh ward, Ninh Binh city. Looking from the south, the mountain looks like a lotus flower blooming on the bank of the Van River. From the north, it looks like a bird perching on the water surface. There are 198 stone stairs leading up to the peak of the mountain. On Non Nuoc Mountain, a varieties of natural plants grow greenly all the year round.

Non Nuoc Mountain was associated with many historical events of the country in different periods, including Queen Duong Van Nga passing the imperial robe embroidered with dragons down to Le Hoan on the wharf of the Van River, implementing the transfer of power from the Dinh dynasty to the Pre-Le dynasty.

During the period of Dai Co Viet State, Non Nuoc Mountain was the outpost of the ancient Hoa Lu citadel. In the resistance war against the colonialists and imperialists, Non Nuoc Mountain was the place to mobilize the people’s fighting spirit against foreign invaders.

In addition, this mountain also preserves the material and spiritual imprints (poems and inscriptions on the cliffs) of many kings, generals, celebrities and famous poets of the country thousands of years ago.

With such special historical and cultural values, Non Nuoc Mountain was rated as a national relic site in 1962 by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

On December 31, 2019, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1954/QD-TTg recognizing an additional seven special national relics, including the Non Nuoc Mountain historical relic and scenery.

This is a great pride and motivation for the officials and people of Ninh Binh province to continue accelerating the preservation and promotion of the great values of the relic, regarding the aspects of nature, history and culture.

Currently, Ninh Binh is strongly developing its tourism, and has proved that it is home to the marvellous scenic spots that could be found nowhere else. The province’s Non Nuoc Mountain is like a rare blue pearl with shimmering, wonderful and peaceful scenery of the countryside./.
