Field surveys on legal framework, land market, land revocation and compensation, real estate tax, management and exploitation of forest land, land of ethnic minorities will be conducted in order to comprehensively assess socio-economic influences of land policies on rural development, so as to design new policies for sustainable economic growth in rural areas.

Jointly implemented by national and foreign experts from the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agricultural Rural Development and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, the project will last for two years in 2009 and 2010.

According to MARD, it is necessary to conduct multifaceted surveys on current policies to create scientific foundation for new policies and solutions to land-related issues, such as virtual fever of land when low-income people, domestic and foreign investors find it difficult to own house and access land in industrial zones./.
