Asia-Pacific Quality Network assists VN’s education

At an APQN annual meeting, which was recently hosted by Việt Nam for the first time, Deputy Minister of Education and Training  Bành Tiến Long said that the meeting marks a fine start for Việt Nam’s international cooperation to sharpen its education quality verification at national and school levels.

At the meeting, 200 delegates from 30 countries and territories shared their experiences of building education quality system in open and distance training programs as well as joint training projects between countries and regions.
Ms. Concepcion V. Pijano, President of APQN said that amid the globalization of tertiary education, each country needs to make strenuous effort to ensure education quality suitable to their specific realities and international trends.

Việt Nam’s MET is implementing some world-popular education quality verification models. In addition, it has cooperated with and received assistance from international organizations, particularly the World Bank, APQN and Southeast Asia Ministers’ of Education Organization (SEAMEO) and such countries as the US, Australia and the Netherlands in education quality assessment.

Over the past four years, APQN has provided overseas training courses for 16 Vietnamese cadres, preparing for assessment and verification activities in the country. For centers for education quality assurance of four universities in Việt Nam have become full members of APQN.

The MET is registering to become a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).
