PM attends Ca Mau Cape Culture-Tourism Week 2019

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on December 10 attended the inauguration of the Flag Tower of Ha Noi at the Cape of Ca Mau, the southernmost area of Viet Nam and the opening ceremony of Ca Mau Cape Culture-Tourism Week 2019.

In 2018, Ca Mau Province welcomed more than 1.24 million visitors, up more than 16% compared to the previous year, gaining VND2,200 billion in revenue. 

Restructuring the economy and promoting tourism and services are sustainable measures to respond to climate change which is happening complicatedly in the Mekong Delta, including Ca Mau Province, said Phuc, adding that Ca Mau Cape Culture-Tourism Week creates an opportunity to introduce the image of Ca Mau Province with its potential, activeness, openness. 

The Flag Tower of Ha Noi, a present of the capital city of Ha Noi to Ca Mau Province, is considered as a symbol of the national unity and sovereignty, asserted the PM. 

Phuc stressed the importance of responsible tourism development, ecotourism and community-based tourism as well as the necessity to preserve and uphold the value of unique ecosystem of wetland and effectively exploit advantages of the world biosphere. 

The Flag Tower of Ha Noi in Ca Mau Cape started construction in January 2016, with the height of more than 41 meters. 

Ca Mau Cape Culture-Tourism Week, held from December 10-15, includes key activities of fairs, food festival and art festivals. 

A seminar on enhancing tourism connectivity will also be organized to seek for measures to boost tourism development between Ca Mau Province and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi and other tourism businesses and associations in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia.
