Timber, wooden products exports reach nearly US$10 bln

VGP – Viet Nam gained US$9.45 billion from exporting timber and wooden products over the recent 11 months of 2019, a year-on-year increase of 17.2%, of which US$6.8 billion earned from exporting wooden products, up 20.6%, according to the import-export department, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Timber and wooden products exports reached US$900 million, down 13.2% in comparison with the previous month and up 7.1% against the same period last year. 

The nation’s timber and wooden products have been exported to more than 140 nations and territories, focusing on key markets such as the U.S., Japan, China, the EU and the Republic of Korea, making up 87%. 

The exports of wooden furniture reached US$5.5 billion, up 23.8% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 64.8%.
