Textile sector must be a key industry

The State encourages all economic sectors, domestic and foreign, to invest in textile industry through projects on textile, dying, producing fiber cotton, synthetic fiber, and other materials. Textile industrial parks will be founded, with good infrastructure and high capacity in training labor force.

It is necessary to open training courses on management, technique, laws relating to textile in order to train a contingent of excellent entrepreneurs and skilled employees.

Technologically, the sector should pay attention to clean and energy-saving programs as well as set up proper technical standards for textile and garment products.

Another solution is to boost negotiations on expanding international markets, restructure domestic retail network, and build up Vietnamese trademarks.

Development goals in 2008-2010

Annual production growth: 16-18%

Export growth: 20%

Sector’s revenue: US $14.8 (by 2010)

Labor force: 2.5 million
