DPM receives Governor of Japan’s Ibaraki Prefecture

VGP – Viet Nam attaches importance to promoting local-to-local cooperation with Japan, regarding it as a practical and effective cooperative channel to strengthen investment, trade, labor and people-to-people exchange.

Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh made that statement during his reception for Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture Oikawa Kazuhiko in Ha Noi on November 26. 

Welcoming Oikawa Kazuhiko’s first visit to Viet Nam, Binh expressed his hope that the visit will make contributions to enhancing the friendship and cooperation between Ibaraki Prefecture and Viet Nam. 

He highlighted the fruitful developments in Viet Nam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, adding that Japan continues to be the top economic partner of Viet Nam, the largest Official Development Assistance (ODA) provider, the second largest investor and ranking fourth in trade value with Viet Nam. 

As many as 370,000 Overseas Vietnamese are living in Japan, becoming the third largest foreign community in the country. 

The Vietnamese Deputy PM expressed his delight on positive developments in cooperation between Viet Nam and Ibaraki Prefecture in all spheres of investment, trade and agriculture, especially Joyo Bank, which is located in the Prefecture, has set up the representative office in Viet Nam. 

He suggested Oikawa Kazuhiko and the Prefecture’s authorities promote cooperation with Vietnamese localities, encouraging their firms to pour more investment into Viet Nam in advantageous areas such as high-tech agriculture, manufacturing and processing and precision mechanical engineering, asserting that Viet Nam is willing to create favorable conditions for the Prefecture’s enterprises to launch successful operation in the country. 

The host proposed Ibaraki Prefecture receive more Vietnamese interns and laborers on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding inked between the Prefecture and the Vietnamese Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, facilitating the Overseas Vietnamese community to study and work in the Prefecture. 

For his side, Oikawa Kazuhiko confirmed to do his utmost to promote Viet Nam-Japan diplomatic relations in general and the relations between Ibaraki Prefecture and the Vietnamese ministries, agencies and localities in particular, especially boosting cooperation in receiving more Vietnamese human resources,
