Special preferential import tariffs to facilitate VN-Cambodia trade ties

VGP – The Government has issued Decree No. 92/2019/ND-CP on special preferential import tariffs to implement the Viet Nam-Cambodia Bilateral Trade Acceleration Agreement during the period of 2019-2020.

The decree stipulates special preferential import tariffs to implement the aforementioned deal, which was inked between the two governments in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on February 26, 2019, and conditions for items to be entitled to special preferential import tariffs under the agreement.

The decree also stipulates that the imports of the unprocessed agricultural products, invested and planted by Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia, into Viet Nam will comply with the current law on import duty and export duty.

In addition, the acts of temporarily importing the Cambodia-originated agro-products for re-export to other markets shall comply with the regime of temporary import of goods for re-export regulated by the Vietnamese Government and the regional and international agreements to which both sides are signatories.

The volume of agricultural imports mentioned above are not embraced in the quotas stipulated in Annex II to the decree.

The decree takes effect from January 6, 2020 until December 31, 2020.
