Deputy PM, FM Minh meets U.S. National Security Advisor

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh meet with  U.S. National Security Advisor Robert C. O'Brien in Bangkok – who is Special Envoy of President Donald Trump at East Asia Summit and ASEAN-U.S. Summit, in Thailand on November 4.

The two sides expressed their pleasure at the positive advancement of the Viet Nam-U.S. relations over the recent past and agreed to coordinate in deploying measures to further foster the bilateral ties, particularly in 2020 as the two countries mark the 25th anniversary of normalization of the relationship and Viet Nam assumes ASEAN Chairmanship and UNSC non-permanent membership.

Deputy PM, FM Minh suggested both sides strengthen the exchange of delegations, including high-level ones next year, as well as trade and investment cooperation for mutual benefit.

President Donald Trump’s Special Envoy and National Security Adviser Robert C. O'Brien said President Trump and his Administration expect to foster cooperation with Viet Nam and ASEAN.

O'Brien also said the U.S. supports ASEAN’s role and freedom of navigation and aviation and respect for international law.

He also spoke highly of Viet Nam’s consistent stance on the East Sea and other security and economic issues in the region./.
