VN, Japan enhance digital transformation cooperation

VGP – Japan IT Day, themed “Viet Nam-Japan cooperation enhancing digital transformation”, was jointly organized by Da Nang City’s People’s Committee, the Viet Nam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) and Viet Nam – Japan IT Cooperation Committee on October 22 in the central city of Da Nang.

Japan IT Day, the annual cooperation promotion event for the two nations’ IT firms since 2017, focuses on promoting digital transformation between the two countries’ enterprises and attracting more Japan’s investment in the city. 

Da Nang City is the IT center in the Central region, with more than 3,800 enterprises, of which 93% are operating in software, digital content and IT service with the total revenue of US$693 million in 2018. 

Outsourcing and services witnessed high growth, reaching 25% in 2018 with US$78 million. 

Da Nang now has 38 IT universities and colleges with 3,500 enrollments every year. 

Japan is the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) provider in Da Nang City, accounting for 25% of the total FDI, investing in 177 projects, worth US$800 million. 

Japan is the largest software exporter of IT firms in Da Nang City, accounting for more than 36%. 

Within the framework of the Japan IT Day, a signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding of cooperation between the VJC and the IT Innovation and Strategy Center Okinawa was held, which aims to expand cooperation between the two nations’ firms in IT, especially new technology.
