Spokesperson Hang made the point on October 3 in Ha Noi at a regular press briefing in response to a query of reporters on Viet Nam’s reaction to the news that China is deploying 'Haiyang Shiyou 982’ in the East Sea.
Ms. Hang said that Vietnamese competent agencies are verifying the information.
The diplomat stressed that all activities in the East Sea must comply with regulations and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) including respecting sovereign right and jurisdiction of coastal countries and practically contributing to maintenance of regional peace and security./.
