The Government chief made the remark on September 19 in Ha Noi while receiving international representatives and scholars of the ongoing 2019 Viet Nam Reform and Development Forum.

PM Phuc stressed that Viet Nam has spared no effort to grow and successfully integrate into the world. During the process, Viet Nam treasured and was ready to listen to comments from the international community.

The host leader praised the positive and responsible cooperation of the WB with Viet Nam. He hoped that via the forum, the WB and international community would give comments on and provide policy consultations for Viet Nam.

In reply, World Bank chief economist Pinelopi Goldberg expressed her impression of Viet Nam’s achievements.

Viet Nam is standing at the important development crossroad. Hence, policies would decide success in the coming period, said the chief economist.

The WB would spare no effort to support Viet Nam in the development period and give appropriate consultations for Viet Nam, said Ms. Pinelopi Goldberg.

According to the chief economist, it is a mistake to copy development modals of other countries to Viet Nam. Viet Nam could learn development experience from others. The WB has cooperative experience with a large number of countries with different starting points. It is necessary for Viet Nam to learn experience of others including success and failures especially to avoid the medium-income trap and set sound development strategy.

PM Phuc hailed the theme of the forum, hoping that international delegates would make positive contributions to support Viet Nam and its strong aspiration for sustainable growth.

On behalf of the international delegates, Ms. Pinelopi Goldberg expressed the aspiration to continue cooperating with Viet Nam in the coming time.

Viet Nam set a successful example of socio-economic development. The WB is willing to stand by Viet Nam to escape from the medium-income trap, said the chief economist./.
