VGP – The Viet Nam Reform and Development Forum (VRDF) 2019 will be jointly held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the World Bank (WB) in Ha Noi on September 19 under the theme “Viet Nam: Desire for Prosperity – Priorities and Actions”.

September 13, 2019 5:27 PM GMT+7

Following the success of VRDF 2018, VRDF 2019 will focus on discussing the contents related to institutional improvement, seeking new growth engines and innovation

The event will see the participation of government leaders; representatives from ministries, sectors, international organizations and business associations; and leading experts and scholars, both at home and abroad.

Held for the first time in 2018, VRDF is the succession and development of the Consultative Group Meeting (CG Meeting) and the Viet Nam Development Forum (VDF). The annual event offers an opportunity for policy makers, domestic and foreign experts and development partners to meet and openly and frankly discuss Viet Nam’s reform and development issues.

According to the MPI, the agenda of VRDF 2019 will be more inclusive and cover a larger scale. It will be an international forum with the discussion contents related to completing institutions and seeking new growth engines in the new era; creative innovation to overcome the middle-income trap in the era of Industry 4.0; and priorities and actions for a prosperous Viet Nam.

As scheduled, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend and deliver a speech at the plenary session. On the threshold of the forum, there will be talks between international speakers and experts and the editorial board of the 13th National Party Congress’s Socio-economic Subcommittee aiming to further discuss the issues related to the theme of the forum.

Thereby, more useful contributions will be made to the research and development of the socioeconomic development strategy for 2021-2030 and the socioeconomic development plan for 2021-2025.
