Party chief, State President congratulates educational sector

VGP – Party General Secretary, State President Nguyen Phu Trong sent a congratulatory message to the education sector, parents, pupils, and students on the occasion of the new academic year (2019-2020).

On the occasion of the new academic year, the Party chief conveyed his best wishes and warm sentiments to teachers, educational managers, parents, pupils, and students. 

The previous academic year (2018-2019) marked the five-year implementation of Resolution 29-NQ/TW, dated November 4, 2013 of the Party on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education.  The educational sector deployed measures and attained positive outcomes. 

On behalf of the Party and State, the Party leader warmly praised the endeavors and achievements of the educational sector over the past time. 

In the new academic year (2019-2020), the educational sector was asked to effectively implement the Party’s directions and the State’s policies on education and training especially the amended Law on Education and the law on adjustment and supplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education; educate history, tradition, culture, morality, lifestyles, revolutionary ideals for pupils and students; build a safe, healthy and friendly educational environment; and strive for the preset goals for the 2016-2020 period. 

According to estimates from the Ministry of Education and Training, over 24 million students across the country began the 2019-2020 academic year following brief and solemn ceremonies without balloon release on September 5.

The new academic year welcomes over 5.5 million kindergarteners, more than 17 million primary, secondary, and high school students, as well as over 1.5 million undergraduates.

Preschools are set to improve the quality and management capacity, and tackle teacher shortages. General education that consists of primary, secondary and high schools focuses on the preparations for implementing new textbooks and curriculums, and on career orientations for students. Meanwhile, tertiary education concentrates on boosting the quality of human resources to meet requirements from the labor market amid the Fourth Industrial Revolution./.
