PM Phuc congratulated the diplomat for his successful mission in Viet Nam, contributing to promote the Viet Nam-Sweden relations.

Especially, the Ambassador worked with agencies and ministries to prepare for the official visit of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden to Viet Nam and the state tour of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc to Sweden (in May).

PM Phuc said that the Government and people of Viet Nam treasured Sweden’s support over the past years.

The host leader also took the occasion to thank Sweden for its support for Viet Nam to win a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for 2020-2021 and hail Sweden’s role in pushing the official signing of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

According to PM Phuc, although Sweden’s investment in Viet Nam tripled from nearly US$ 370 million in 2017, and two-way trade reached about US$ 1.5 billion last year, the figures have yet to match potential of the two countries.

The PM proposed the two countries would continue boosting bilateral cooperation, especially in innovation, science and technology.

In reply, Ambassador Pereric Hogberg thanked Vietnamese competent ministries and agencies for their support during his term in Viet Nam.

The diplomat said a large number of Swedish businesses are interested in investing in Viet Nam./.
