PM bids farewell to outgoing Malaysian Ambassador

The Government chief made the point on July 10 while receiving outgoing Malaysian Ambassador to Viet Nam M. Zamruni Khalid. 

The host leader congratulated Ambassador M. Zamruni Khalid on completing his second successful term in Viet Nam, hoping that the diplomat would continue to support and nurture the strategic partnership between Viet Nam and Malaysia. 

Ambassador M. Zamruni Khalid expressed the gratitude to the support of the Vietnamese Government and relevant agencies for his successful mission in Viet Nam especially the practical and beneficial ties between the two countries. 

Mr. M. Zamruni Khalid said the two sides regularly maintained exchanges of delegations and proactively utilized potential fields especially tourism on the basis of favorable aviation infrastructure conditions. The Ambassador expressed the pleasure to witness the rising number of visitors to Viet Nam and vice versa. 

The diplomat went on to say that he has lived in Viet Nam for seven year, promising to early return Viet Nam as a tourist to continue exploring the hidden charms of Viet Nam. 

In reply, PM Phuc said that Malaysia is an important trade partner of Viet Nam in ASEAN in which the two-way trade volume hit US$ 11.5 billion in 2018, yearly surging 15% over the past term of the Ambassador. The two countries are looking to achieve US$ 15 billion trade volume or even a higher figure by 2020. 

The host leader took the occasion to seek Malaysian support for Viet Nam to successful assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020 and the non-permanent seat at United Nations Security Council in the 2020-2021 term. 

PM Phuc called upon the two sides to boost cooperation in education, cultural exchange, people-to-people diplomacy especially tourism development. 

He proposed the two sides seriously consider the removal of trade barriers. The Malaysian side was asked to create favorable ways for overseas Vietnamese people to do business and re-integrate into Malaysia./.
