Revenues gained from tourism up 8.4%

VGP – The total revenue from tourism in the first half of 2019 witnessed an increase of 8.4% against the same period last year, reaching VND338,200 billion.

The information was released on July 9 at a press conference organized by the General Department of Tourism.  

The number of foreign arrivals to Viet Nam in the first half was estimated at 8.5 million, an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period last year. 

In the second half of this year, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) plans to organize promotional activities to help meet goals set for the year and work with other agencies to hold the International Travel Expo in HCM City, the National Tourism Year in the coastal province of Khanh Hoa and the Viet Nam International Travel Mart in Can Tho.

In 2019, Viet Nam expects to welcome 17.5-18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic arrivals, gaining VND700,000 billion from tourism.  

The Viet Nam tourism annual report 2018 made debut on the same day. The report, released by the VNAT annually, provides information about criteria and statistics of the nation’s tourism such as the number of foreign and domestic arrivals, revenues gained from tourism, contributions of tourism to the GDP, travel activities, tourism promotion, international cooperation, institution and policy establishment.
