The 50 best-performing companies in VN in 2018

VGP - The list of Viet Nam’s 50 best-performing companies in 2018’ (Top 50) was announced by the Nhip Cau Dau Tu (Investment Bridge) magazine and Thien Viet Joint Stock Company in Ho Chi Minh City on June 27.

Viet Nam's 50 best-performing companies are honoured

The ranking process seeks to evaluate and rank companies with remarkable achievements in the field of business and reflect their abilities in the management of enterprises.

The ranking was developed in line with international standard measure. It took counsel from many economists and business experts from Thien Viet JSC, Viet Nam Investment Group, Viet Nam Capital Partners, business experts from Harvard Business School and many prestigious organizations.

The selected companies must be listed on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange and Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, have market capitalization from VND 1.5 trillion (US$ 64.4 million). Besides, they must gain at least VND 250 billion in revenue, and VND 25 billion or more in net profit in three consecutive years.

Remarkable companies on the list are The Gioi Di Dong (Mobile World) JSC, Hoa Binh Construction Group JSC, Vietjet Aviation JSC, Phu Nhuan Jewellry JSC, and Hoa Phat Group. They all gained impressive revenue, and net profit.

The Top 50 this year includes 17 remarkable companies, who are taking the lead in various sectors with market capitalisation worth over $1 billion, including Vingroup, Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Viet Nam (Vietcombank), Viet Nam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), Saigon Beer Alcohol Beverage Corporation (Sabeco), Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company, Masan Group and Bao Viet Holdings.

Large firms such as Vingroup, Vinamilk, Hoa Phat Group, Binh Minh Plastic Joint Stock Company, Viet Nam Container Shipping Corporation and Hau Giang Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai said the event is especially important, particularly when the Government is encouraging the development of private sector.

The top 50 enterprises have made significant contributions to the nation’s socio-economy while affirming their increasing competitiveness in the market, he added.

The annual ranking has been organised by the Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine and Thien Viet Securities for eight years.

The Top 50 list was designed to evaluate and rank the listed companies with remarkable achievements in their fields of business through key financial indicators and encourage companies to pursue better corporate governance and strategic thinking, and recognise the business leaders who have demonstrated long-term vision and creative thinking.
