Việt Nam and Australia will hold the 8th Meeting of the Joint Committee for Bilateral Economic and Commercial Cooperation in Hà Nội on July 24, with Minister of Planning and Investment Võ Hồng Phúc and Mr. Simon Crean as the chairmen.

The two sides will discuss topics relating to education, infrastructure, environment management, financial services, energy, petroleum and agriculture.

Mr. Crean said to the press before his working tour that he hopes the ASEAN-Australian-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement will contribute to the bilateral trade and investment relations.

A large delegation of Australian enterprises accompanying the Minister will take the occasion to conduct trade promotion activities in Hồ Chí Minh City on July 25-26.

In February, Minister Simon Crean and Việt Nam’s Minister of Industry and Trade Vũ Huy Hoàng signed in Hua Hin, Thailand, a letter of confirmation which states Australia as the first country to recognize Việt Nam’s market economic status.
