Press must reflect mainstream of society

VGP – The press must honestly reflect mainstream of the society and the Government would create a new mechanism for the press to further develop, said PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Government leader made the point on June 19 in Ha Noi while working with the Viet Nam Journalists’ Association (VJA), on the occasion of the 94th anniversary of the Viet Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21). 

The PM conveyed his regards to the press contingent on the anniversary. He assessed that the press have  accompanied the country; closely pursuing the Party’s guidelines and reflecting all aspects of life. Journalists took the lead in combating corruption and wastefulness. 

PM Phuc called upon the press offices to manifest their core values of providing verified news and intensify the fight against fabrications as well as fake news.  

The press should be a pioneer in the major and new issues of the country and the Party, the leaders said and stressed that the revolutionary press must reflect the main stream of the society, namely the building and protection of the socialist system and the building of a fair, democratic and civilized country and the preservation of the national culture.

The PM added that the State and the Government will create a new mechanism for the press to further develop. 

The VJA reported that the association has over 24,000 members./.
