Vice President to attend 5th CICA Summit in Tajikistan

VGP​– Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh will attend the 5th Summit of Heads of State of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) to be held in Dushabe, the capital city of Tajikistan from June 14-15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Her upcoming attendance is made at the invitation of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, the statement said.

CICA is a multinational forum with the objective to enhance cooperation among its member states in the areas of peace, security and stability in Asia and the world beyond.

The CICA is a very serious organization, including 27 member states that cover about 90% of the territory and population of Asia, another 8 states and 5 international organizations, including the UN, have observer status.

It is interesting that from the initiative of the creation of the CICA, first announced in October 1992 at the 47th session of the UN General Assembly, belonged to the first president of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The Dushanbe Summit is a continuation of the efforts of the CICA member countries, applied since 2002, from the day of the First Summit. 

It is expected that the Summit will bring together high-level delegations to adopt an ambitious Declaration covering all issues of cooperation within the CICA.

The Dushanbe Summit will serve as an effective platform for discussing and resolving the remaining and new problems encountered in Asia, as well as for promoting initiatives and finding effective mechanisms at a very high level.
