VN vows to make breakthroughs in e-Government in 2019

The Government Office of Viet Nam and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in e-government development in Ha Noi on May 30 under the witness of PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and French Ambassador to Viet Nam Bertrand Lortholary.

The MoU targets to build bilateral cooperative relations between the Government Office and the AFD in implementing e-government in Viet Nam; support the Government’s digitalization, administrative modernization, and reform process.

The MoU is the continuation of another MoU signed between the Viet Nam Government Office and the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance. 

Addressing the singing ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the MoU targets to concretize the cooperation agreement between the two governments after the visit to Viet Nam by French PM Édouard Philippe in November last year.

He proposed the French Ambassador in Viet Nam uphold the role as a bridge to beef up the bilateral ties including e-Government building in Viet Nam. 

The PM took the occasion to thank the AFD for standing by Vietnamese experts and offices especially the Office of the Government in deploying the e-government. 

In reply, Ambassador Lortholary said Viet Nam and France have cooperated effectively in numerous fields over the past time, including the building of the e-government.

In recent times, France has sent many experts to Vietnam to help with the effort in the Southeast Asian country, he added.

Under the MoU, the Office of the Government and the AFD will cooperate in such prioritized fields as building integrated solutions and data sharing between government agencies and data protection; a national portal for public services; and solutions to identify individuals and businesses.

In the long term, the two sides could  partner in other aspects of mutual concern, such as support to change the information system, building an IT infrastructure system, ensuring cyber information safety, and building a digital government and open data./.
