With the theme “Restructuring the State budget for fiscal sustainability and socio-economic development”, the event has attracted the participation of 14 country members of the PEMNA and international organizations.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Finance Do Hoang Anh Tuan said that in Viet Nam’s restructuring State budget process, the nation has consistently reduced the budget overspending from more than 5% in 2017 to 3% by 2020.

Viet Nam has lessened public debt from 63.8% to 58.4% of the GDP at present, he said.

The conference has created an opportunity for delegates to discuss challenges and share experience, especially ones related to the fiscal reform activities and laws.

The PEMNA is a peer-learning network of public expenditure management officials in East Asia and the Pacific.

Established in 2012, PEMNA provides a unique forum for public officials to share their knowledge and experience to build stronger national budget and treasury systems across the region.

By learning from other countries' experience and through ongoing exchange, members help their governments manage public resources more efficiently to provide valuable services to citizens, supporting continued growth and development in East Asia and the Pacific.

The event will last till May 24.
