VN runs US$ 1.01 bln trade deficit

VGP – As of mid May, Viet Nam ran a trade deficit of US$ 1.01 billion, the General Department of Customs reported.

n the first half of May, total trade turnover hit US$ 21.24 billion, including  exports of US$ 9.69 billion and imports of US$ 11.54 billion. 

The export turnover of US$ 9.69 billion reflected a drop of 9.5% from the second half of April. The FDI sector exported US$ 6.5 billion of goods. 

As of May 15, total export turnover reached US$ 88.9 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.7%. The biggest hard currency earners included telephones and spare parts with US$ 1.7 billion; computers and electronic devices with US$ 1.24 billion; garments and textiles with US$ 1.17 billion; footwear with US$ 781 million; machines, equipment and spare parts with US$ 646 million./.
