Top legislator highlights innovative spirit

The top legislator made the point at the opening ceremony of the 7th working session of the 14th National Assembly on May 20 in Ha Noi. 

Ms. Ngan said that the session took place in the context that the region and the world witnessed complicated developments; the global economy was forecast to slow down with a large number of challenges. Differences in economics and politics among big countries have impacted other countries including Viet Nam. Difficulties and limitations especially natural disasters and diseases have influenced socio-economic development and people’s lives. 

However, thanks to the growth trend in 2018, the socio-economic performance in early 2019 attained positive outcomes. The economic growth was positive, macro-economy was stable, big balances were ensured. The investment and business environment was better. 

The fields of culture, society, education, healthcare, labor, employment and social security attained achievements. National defense and security were safeguarded. Diplomatic operation and international economic integration acquired important achievements.  

According to the top legislator, 2019 is a year of significance for the fulfillment of the five-year socio-economic development (2016-2020). The heavy tasks require the whole political system, people, the army, the business community to spare no effort to successfully realize the socio-economic development norms in 2019. 

At the ongoing session, the National Assembly will consider and make important decision:

Firstly, the lawmakers are scheduled to consider and pass seven bills and two resolutions, and debate nine other draft laws.

Secondly, the lawmakers will examine and approve the State budget balance of 2017, make decisions on the addition of new projects to the mid-term public investment plan for 2016-2020, and consider and pass resolutions on the supervision program and establishment of specialized supervision teams of the NA in 2020.

The NA will consider a report on the specialized inspection of the implementation of policies and laws on land planning, management and use in urban areas since the 2013 Land Law took effect to the end of 2018; and reports on supplementary evaluation of the implementation of the socio-economic development plans and State budget in 2018 and the first months of 2019. 

The NA will listen to reports summing up voters’ opinions and petitions and on the supervision of the settlement of voters’ petitions submitted to the NA’s 6th session.  

The NA is scheduled to give two and a half days to Question-and-Answer sessions. 

The NA’s 7th session will conclude on June 14./.
