Nhon Hoi Economic Zone to be expanded

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved adjustments to Nhon Hoi Economic Zone planning in the southern province of Binh Dinh by 2040.

The objectives of the plan is to make the construction of the zone suitable to the national development strategy as well as the maritime development strategy, while turning the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone into a dynamic and sustainable economic hub.

The zone is expected to become a centre for tourism, service, urban, industry, port and traditional sea-base economy, ensuring both economic growth and security-defense.

Under the decision, the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone will cover about 14,308 hectares including Phuong Mai peninsula with a total area of 12,000 hectares. 

The administrative boundary expansion will have a total area of 2,308 hectares at Canh Vinh commune, Van Canh district, Binh Dinh province. 

By 2030, the Nhon Hoi Economic Zone will have a total population of 120,000-140,000 and land use demand of 8,461 hectares. By 2040, total population will reach 200,000-250,000 and land use areawill be about 10,746 hectares.

The Economic Zone will compose eight functional areas including (1) Tan Thanh and Vinh Hoi urban and tourism areas; (2) Cat Tien gateway urban area; (3) Nhon Hoi urban area; (4) Nhon Hoi urban industrial zone; (5) Phuong Mai urban and tourism site; (6) Thi Naiport; (7) Becamex industrial zone and urban area; and (8) Becamex urban and service area. 

Especially, Tan Thanh and Vinh Hoi urban and tourism areas will become high-quality maritime sites with a population of 23,000 and a total area of 1,164 hectares. 

Nhon Hoi industrial park and Nhon Hoi port will be developed. Mai Huong urban area will become a center of urban area, trade, and mixed service. Mai Huong Bay will be preserved and developed with service sectors as well as entertainment sites./.
