Over the last 30 years of reform, Viet Nam has become one of the economies with the fastest growth rates. However, Viet Nam has to transform the growth modal which used to rely on natural resources, crude oil export, credit growth, and cheap labor. Japan and the Republic of Korea depended on technological development especially IT and communications to become “dragons” in Asia. The fourth industrial revolution developing new technologies especially ICT has opened up big opportunities for Viet Nam to catch up with its peers.

Last year, the IT industry earned about US$ 98.9 billion of revenue, up 8% of which hardware and electronic industry pocketed US$ 88 billion of turnover; software industry US$ 4.3 billion; IT services over US$ 800 million. The sector achieved US$ 94 billion of export turnover and ran a trade surplus of about US$ 26 billion. The IT industry contributed VND 50 trillion to the State budget and generated over 1 million jobs.

These initial outcomes required drastic effort of the State, scientific establishments, and the business community.

During the process of “Make in Viet Nam,’ technological enterprises have to proactively design; integrate products, services, and solutions to develop new technologies. “Make in Viet Nam” must focus on technological industries to optimize opportunities from science and technology development, then create a momentum for the economy.

At the forum, speakers will share technological applications in Viet Nam to solve problems in the country and propose technological solutions in the coming time. Success stories of some technological enterprises will be put on the table for discussion./.
