Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance joins hand with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to soon prepare expenditures for vessel monitoring system project.

Coastal provinces and cities actively strengthen infrastructures and human resources to promote the prevention and control of IUU fishing as well as make careful preparations for related works and contents during the working sessions with the European Commission delegation in May this year, aiming to lift the “yellow card”.

In October 2017, the EC imposed a yellow card warning on Vietnamese seafood for failing to make progress in fighting IUU fishing.

The warning had exposed risks from Vietnamese seafood to the European Union and other markets around the world, having a negative impact on the production and lives of local residents.

Since the imposition of the yellow card, the Government, ministries, agencies and localities have been trying to meet the EC’s demands.
