Forestry product exports rise in first four months

As of April 18, more than 29 hectares of concentrated forests were planted, accounting for 21.6% of the yearly plan.

Meanwhile, the number of forest law violation cases was brought down by nearly 1,076 or 25% from last year. The area of damaged forest was also reduced by 58 hectares or 23%.

The EU, the U.S., Japan, China and the Republic of Korea have remained the five largest importers of Vietnamese forest products, accounting for some 87% of the industry’s total export value.

The country has 4,500 enterprises processing and exporting wood and forestry products, 1,863 of which are exporters. They include more than 700 foreign-invested businesses with large production scales and the application of advanced technologies in production.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc recently issued Directive No.08/CT-TTg, outlining measures to increase forestry shipments to US$11 billion in 2019, US$12-13 billion in 2020, and US$18-20 billion in 2025.
