Ha Tinh recognized as second-class city

VGP - The Ha Tinh authorities held a ceremony on April 20 to receive the Government Decision recognizing Ha Tinh as a second-class city under the central province of Ha Tinh.

The ceremony also attracted the attendance of Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue, Permanent Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Organization Commission Nguyen Thanh Binh, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Justice Le Thanh Long, local leaders of Binh Dinh, Bac Ninh, Nghe An, Quang Ninh, Ninh Binh, and delegations from Bolykhamxay province (Laos) and Nakhonphanom province (Thailand). 

The event was of political significance as it reflected the great efforts and determination of the Party, local authorities and people in socio-economic development and urban modernization. 

Former Ha Tinh town was recognized as a third-class city in 2007 by the Ministry of Construction.

Over the past 12 years, the city has maintained a high economic growth rate of about 12.16% and average income per capita of VND 47.28 million (US$2,032) (three times higher than that of 2006).

The city earned a total budget revenue of VND 1,642 billion (US$70.61 million) in 2018, eight times higher than 2006. 

The proportion of the agricultural sector has reduced to 2.26%, while the economy has witnessed increases in the industrial and service sectors.

Addressing the event, Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial People’s Committee Dang Quoc Khanh recommended the local authorities and people uphold potentials and diversify resources to develop urban infrastructure and spur socio-economic growth./.
