DPM: VN expects to strengthen trade, investment with UAE

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh suggested United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Obaid Saeed Bintaresh Al Dhaheri join hand with Vietnamese ministries and agencies to discuss specific measures so as to strengthen investment capital flows into Viet Nam during their meeting on April 8 in Ha Noi.

Welcoming the newly-appointed UAE Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr. Minh expected that the Ambassador will make positive and effective contributions to the cooperative relationship between the two nations. 

Deputy PM Minh proposed the UAE enhance investment in Viet Nam, especially in infrastructure development and tourism as well as introduce potential and investment opportunities to investors in the Middle East. 

For his side, Mr. Obaid Saeed Bintaresh Al Dhaheri asserted that Viet Nam is one of the crucial partners of the UAE in ASEAN, adding that his tasks aim to promote the cooperative relations between the two nations, particularly in economics and trade. 

He has actively exchanged with Viet Nam’s agencies to seek for measures to support their enterprises and upgrade the two-way trade turnover. 

The UAE has been one of Viet Nam’s top trade, investment and labor partners in the Middle East. The two-way trade turnover rose from US$5.2 billion in 2014 to US$6.3 billion in 2017. 

The UAE has become the seventh largest exporter of Viet Nam. Viet Nam’s key export items to the UAE include phones, computers and spare parts, electronics, peppercorn, aquatic products, footwear, fiber, gemstones, cashew, rice, tea, plastic, plastic, fruits, vegetables and tobacco. 

The UAE has been listed among largest investors in the Middle East in Viet Nam with the committed investment capital of US$4 billion.
