Accordingly, the natural beauty of Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh makes it one of Viet Nam’s number one tourist sites. It also recommends that tourists see the UNESCO-recognised site’s awe-inspiring limestone towers by boat.

Other Asian natural wonders praised Business Insider include the Stone Forest, Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park and Tianmen Cave in China, TegalalangRice Terrace in Indonesia, and Jeju Island in the Republic of Korea.

Earlier, The New York Daily News, a U.S. newspaper based in New York City, named Ha Long Bay the number one destination among 15 natural wonders to see before they disappear.

Recognised twice by the UNESCO as a global heritage for its landscape and geological value, Ha Long Bay has become a magnetic destination for visitors to Quang Ninh.

In 2018, Quang Ninh province welcomed 5.2 million visitors, a 22 percent increase from the same period last year. The sector earned over VND24 trillion (US$1.03 billion), up 28% year-on-year.

Since its recognition as a UNESCO natural world heritage in 1994, Ha Long Bay has entrenched itself on the global tourism map, receiving raves from many travel bloggers and several foreign filmmakers for its emerald green waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests.

U.K.-based travel site Rough Guides recently included the Vietnamese bay in its list of the top ten UNESCO heritage sites in Asia.
