National business census 2019 underway

VGP – The General Statistics Office is conducting a national business investigation to collect basic information in favor of socio-economic management, policy making, and development.

The investigation was launched in early March 2019. 

The outcomes will be used for the publication of Viet Nam Business White Book 2020. 

Specifically, the census targets to collect information on auxiliary industries of the processing and manufacturing sector and logistics service.  

The investigation focuses on enterprises which were established and operate in accordance with the Law on Enterprises; collectives, and production sites. 

The census collects information on labor, asset values, capital, unfinished products, as well as inventory level. 

The investigation is underway from March 1 to May 19. 

As scheduled, the outcomes will be announced in October. A set of indicators on business development will be published on October 13 on the occasion of the Vietnamese Business Day. In December, the full outcomes on business and the Vietnamese White Book will be published. 

Statistics showed that in 2018, the number of newly-established enterprises hit a record high of 131,257, representing a year-on-year growth of 3.5%. 

Regarding types of business, 558 SOEs were founded in 2018, up 10.7% against 2017. Over 2,700 FDI businesses were established. The number of non-state enterprises was 127,991, up 3.1% against 2017.

The amount of registered capital hit VND 1.47 trillion, up 14.1% against 2017. Average registered capita was US$ 11.3 billion, up 10.2%. Meanwhile, VND 2.4 trillion of capital was added to operating enterprises. The economy absorbed VND 3.88 trillion of registered capital in 2018./.
