Trade deficit hits US$ 84 million in two months

VGP – The trade deficit in the first two months of 2019 was estimated at US$84 million, according to the General Statistic Office.

In the first two months of 2019, the State sector reports a trade deficit of US$4.57 billion while the foreign-invested sector announces the trade surplus (including crude oil) of US$4.49 billion.

The import value of key items witnesses high growth over the recent two months of 2019 such as electronics and computers (up 11.4%), machines and equipments (up 14.6%) and fiber (up 16%).

As of the end of February 2019, China maintains the largest importer of Viet Nam with US$10.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17%.
