DPRK officials visit Hai Duong province

VGP - High-ranking officials of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) on February 28 paid a working visit to the northern province of Hai Duong.

The delegation included Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee and head of the WPK’s International Affairs Department Ri Su Yong; Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee and head of the WPK’s Cadres’ Affairs Department Kim Pyong Hae; and Politburo member, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee and head of the WPK’s Economic Affairs Department O Su Yong.

They were welcomed by Secretary of the Hai Duong Party Committee Nguyen Manh Hien, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duong Thai, and many other officials.

At the reception, Vice Chairman of the WPK Central Committee Ri Su Yong thanked Hai Duong officials for their warm welcome, voicing his belief in the development of Viet Nam-DPRK relations in the future.

Mr. Hien gave a brief introduction of his province’s potential and advantages, noting that the local economy has developed in recent years in all sectors, especially the private one, while social security has been ensured. Hai Duong has concurrently boosted integration and upheld its cultural identities.

Home to 14,000 businesses and 10 industrial parks, it posted an economic growth rate of 9.1% last year, he said, noting achievements in education, health care and living standard improvement.

The trip was a fringe activity of the high-ranking WPK delegation during their stay to attend the second summit between the US and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) in Ha Noi and the official visit to Viet Nam by Chairman of the WPK Central Committee Kim Jong-un.
