US supports anti-bird flu rehearsals in VN’s two provinces
VGP - Over 350 residents of the southern city of Cần Thơ and the northern province of Hưng Yên have recently participated in the first communal level rehearsals on combating bird flu outbreaks in humans and fowls in Việt Nam.

Funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the rehearsals center on the community level at which risks of bird flu spread remain fairly high.
In unplanned scenarios, the communities were required to identify households where suspected outbreaks might be occurring and then to follow appropriate procedures and responses at their level.
Technical observers provided the participants with detailed feedbacks to help them know how the communities could further improve their capacity to protect themselves from the flu.
The US Government has spent over US $33.5 million to support Việt Nam’s programs to combat bird flu since 2005.
