DPM receives new Samsung General Director

VGP – Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung highlighted Viet Nam’s strategy to give priority to developing the auxiliary industry, suggesting the Republic of Korea’s enterprises, especially Samsung to play the leading role in enhancing the development of the auxiliary industry in Viet Nam.

Deputy PM Dung made that statement at his meeting with new Samsung General Director in Viet Nam Choi Joo Ho on February 26 in Ha Noi. 

The Vietnamese Government highly values the RoK’s investors, including Samsung to remain as the largest investor in the country, he said. 

The Deputy PM proposed Samsung give priority to investing in research and development, training strategic human resources, caring more about workers’ lives and making more contributions to humanitarian works at localities in Viet Nam. 

For his side, Mr. Choi Joo Ho said Samsung Viet Nam gained more than US$60 billion from exporting, up 12% against the previous year. 

In 2018, as many as 35 Vietnamese firms became the top providers for Samsung and a total number of 627 Vietnamese enterprises have joined the supply chain, accounting for 30% of Samsung’s total providers. 

Currently, the RoK has poured US$62.1 billion in more than 7,300 valid projects in Viet Nam. Samsung has been the largest trade foreign partner in Viet Nam with six projects in three localities with the registered capital of US$17.3 billion. 

Samsung has created nearly 160,000 jobs in the country.
