VN wishes to make direct contributions to peace, dialogue process, Deputy FM says

He made the above statement at the international press conference for the Summit in Ha Noi on Monday.

Trung stressed that senior Vietnamese leaders have paid great care to the summit and especially Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has directed preparatory work.

He affirmed Viet Nam wishes to make direct contributions to the process of dialogue, peace and settlement of international disputes through peaceful measures.

Viet Nam also expects to enhance the role played by the country as well as ASEAN in the global affairs, the Deputy Foreign Minister added.

He took the occasion to announce that US President Donald Trump will meet with senior Vietnamese leaders on the occasion.

Meanwhile, DPRK leader will also pay an official friendly visit to Viet Nam. This is the first visit by a DPRK leader to the Southeast Asian country over the past 55 years./.
