PM meets big foreign investors in Nghe An

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc asserted that the State encourages and creates favorable conditions for all economic sectors to contribute to the national development, especially at remote and disadvantaged areas at his meetings with foreign and domestic investors investing in the central province of Nghe An on February 23.

At the meetings with President cum Director General of Mitsubishi Corporation Tetsu Funayama, Deputy General Director at Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Huynh Quang Hai and Executive Director at Thai WHA Utilities David Nardone, the PM spoke highly of efforts and determination of businesses in applying new science and technology in management and investment in Viet Nam.

During the reception for Mr. Tetsu Funayama, PM Phuc expressed his hope that the Mitsubishi Corporation will consider building an automobile assembly plant in the central region of Viet Nam. 

Viet Nam and Japan are members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership, he said, highlighting advantages for the Japanese enterprises to invest in Viet Nam, including Mitsubishi.

Mr. Tetsu Funayama said that the corporation has considered constructing an automobile assembly plant in Nghe An Province two years ago, adding that the corporation and leaders of Nghe An Province will ink a memorandum of understanding in this field at the province’s meeting with investors on February 23. 

Appraising the improvement in Vet Nam’s business environment, including Nghe An Province, Mr. Tetsu Funayama expected to join with other investors to hold dialogues with the Vietnamese Government and province’s authorities to attract more investment in Viet Nam. 

The corporation is concerned about further investment in Viet Nam in key areas such as infrastructure, retail sales, health and information technology. 

Mr. Phuc urged  Mitsubishi and other Japanese businesses to play a bridging role in calling more Japanese investment in Viet Nam in all fields.

At the meeting with Mr. Huynh Quang Hai, the Vietnamese leader highly valued operation of the VSIP, asking the VSIP to attract more foreign investors with potential of finance, technology, multi-national and long-term investors, including ones from Singapore to pour more investment in Viet Nam. 

He stressed the need to protect the environment as well as bring high added-value for both enterprises and localities where VSIP locate. 

VSIP Nghe An covers an area of 326 ha and is the home to 21 investors and 8,000 workers, including ones from the Republic of Korea, Japan and other countries, said Mr. Hai, adding that at the end of 2019, the coverage of the VSIP may reach 70%.

While meeting with PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc Mr. David Nardone, leader from Thai WHA Utilities said that his corporation expects to succeed in investing in industrial parks in Viet Nam, appraising high-quality human resource in Nghe AnProvince. 

The corporation is investing in WHA Hemaraj 1 Industrial Park in Nghe An province, covering an area of nearly 500 ha.
