Cabinet convenes first meeting in 2019

As scheduled, the Government will discuss a report on socio-economic development in January, the implementation of Resolution 01, a report on preparation for the upcoming Lunar New Year festival, and the law and ordinance making program in 2020. 

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported that in the first month of 2019, industrial production index (IPI) surged  by 7.9% against the same period last year. 

Total retail sale of goods and services increased by 12.2%. 

Over 10,000 enterprises were founded, down 7% in number but up 53.8% in capital. Meanwhile, over 8,000 enterprises resumed operation. 

The amount of FDI disbursement grew 9.2%. Additional FDI capital picked up 27.3%. Foreign investors' capital contribution  and share purchase posted a year-on-year growth of 114%. The FDI sector saw a slight year-on-year growth in 3.2% export revenue (including crude oil).  

Export turnover grew slightly by 1.9%. Consumer price index (CPI) witnessed an increase of 0.1% against last month. 

Especially, a large number of international organizations made positive assessments of the Vietnamese economic prospects. The WB upgraded its economic forecast for Viet Nam to 6.6% in 2019 and 6.5% in 2020, higher than the average rate in the Asian Pacific region. Standard Chartered predicted that Viet Nam will continue to be one of the most growing economies in Asia and ASEAN. Especially, Viet Nam for the first time entered the Bloomberg Innovation Index of the world’s 60 most innovative economies by scoring 45.92 points out of 100. 

At the meeting, the Government will discuss and make specific assessments of measures to fruitfully implement Resolution 01 and Resolution 02 under the motto “Discipline, integrity, action, creation, effectiveness, and accelerating”./.
