DPM receives Japanese businessman

VGP – Viet Nam hopes that Japanese enterprises would take advantage of opportunities from the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) to expand production, business; transfer technology; and and promote win-win cooperation with Vietnamese enterprises.

Deputy PM Trinh Dinh Dung made the point today in Ha Noi while receiving Mr. Kaoru Iwasa, Senior Managing Executive Officer at Marubeni Corporation.  

Mr. Dung affirmed that the Viet Nam-Japan friendly relations have entered the fine, practical, and comprehensive stage with high political confidence. Both sides shared common benefits and worked closely at multilateral forums. 

In 2018, Viet Nam and Japan marked the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties with over 200 exchanging activities which contributed to consolidating mutual understanding, political confidence, economic cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. 

So far, Japan has become a leading partner of Viet Nam, the largest ODA provider, the second biggest investor, the third tourism partner, and the fourth largest trade partner of Viet Nam. 

Deputy PM Dung stressed that Viet Nam extremely attaches importance to economic relations with Japan and praised the Japanese Government and enterprises for boosting investment in Viet Nam over the last two years. In 2018, Japan provided US$ 8.59 billion FDI, accounting for 24.2% of total investment in Viet Nam. 

The host leader suggested Japanese enterprises boost investment and technological transferring in Viet Nam in such areas as infrastructure, energy, electronics, automobiles, agricultural machines, agro-fishery processing, high-tech farming, and environment. 

The Deputy PM also praised Marubeni corporation for regarding Viet Nam as an important market in Asia and its activities in goods exports and imports; infrastructure development in Viet Nam. 

The Vietnamese Government would spare no effort to improve the investment environment and create more conditions for foreign investors including Japanese ones to do successful business in Viet Nam, he said.

He also hoped that Japanese enterprises including Marubeni would optimize CPTPP opportunities and FTAs to broaden investment and business in Viet Nam. 

In reply, Mr. Kaoru Iwasa thanked Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and localities for their support for Marubeni in large-scale energy projects. 

The Senior Managing Executive Officer promised that Marubeni would continue to do long-term business in Viet Nam especially in export-import, power, liquefied natural gas (LNG), water production and business, and wastewater treatment./.
