DPM figures out key tasks for diplomatic sector in 2019

VGP – Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh identifies the prioritized tasks of the diplomatic sector in 2019 on upgrading the established relations more intensively and enhancing the integration of interests with core partners, especially neighboring nations, big countries, strategic and comprehensive partners.

The Deputy PM made that statement at meeting on reviewing works in 2018 and proposing tasks for 2019 of the diplomatic sector. 

At the event, Mr. Minh supposed that the diplomatic works in 2019 must make more contributions to realizing tasks set by the Government and the National Assembly. 

In the context of extensive international integration, the diplomatic sector must expand markets and mobilize more external resources to contribute to effectively launching new free trade agreements, particularly the Comprehensive Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership. 

Mr. Minh highlighted the importance of realizing Directive No. 25-CT/TW on promoting and enhancing the role of multilateral diplomacy until 2030, making preparations for the role as Chair of ASEAN in 2020 and nominations for the non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council for the 2020-2021 phase.

He asked the sector to continuously enhancing close coordination with defense and public security sectors to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity especially sovereignty and security over seas and islands.  

He stressed the need to increase the effectiveness of coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other ministries, agencies and localities in launching diplomatic and international integration activities in the spirit of taking the national interests as the highest goal.
