Gov’t chief praises Vietnamese foot ball team

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc praised the Vietnamese football players for entering the quarterfinals of the ongoing AFC Asian Cup 2019 after a breath-taking penalty shootout with Jordan in the evening of January 20 in the United Arab Emirates.

Vietnamese players were bursting with happiness after defender Bui Tien Dung defeats opponents' goalkeeper on the penalty spot to take Viet Nam to the quarterfinals.

The two sides finished the official 90 minutes of the match with a 1-1 draw, in which Viet Nam conceded a goal in the first half and gradually scored an equalizer in the second.

Viet Nam should have finished the game early but substitute Tran Minh Vuong failed to score a goal in the fourth penalty. However, in the last shoot, defender Bui Tien Dung sent the ball to the net to secure a berth in the quarterfinals for Viet Nam./.
