Overdue tasks fall significantly thanks to introduction of taskforce

This is one of the key outcomes following the introduction of the Prime Minister’s Taskforce set up on August 19, 2016 by Government chief Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Taskforce, led by Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, is responsible for supervising and accelerating the implementation of the tasks delegated by the Government and the Prime Minister to ministries, agencies and localities.

Dung said the Government and the Prime Minister have assigned 18.820 tasks to inferior levels in 2018, of the total figure, 218 tasks were overdue.

More importantly, the Taskforce’s working sessions with ministries, agencies and localities over the past years. In 2018 alone, there were 21 working sessions with six ministries and agencies, seven localities and two economic corporations. The Taskforce also worked with 11 ministries on specialized inspections.

Through these working sessions, many of obstacles have been addressed to help ministries, agencies and localities complete their assigned tasks on time. More importantly, the working sessions have helped boost creativity and activeness and strengthen administrative discipline among inferior bodies.

Thanks to the Taskforce’s efforts, 6,665 categories of products are now free from specialized inspections as required previously, thereby helping to cut around 11,642,068 working days/year for businesses in completing procedures related to specialized inspections of goods, or saving approximately VND 5,407 billion.

Nine ministries have also abolished 3,015 business conditions, thus helping to cut 5,911,650 working days/year, or equivalent to VND 889.5 billion.

Dung, however, said some ministries and agencies are still slow in issuing or submitting to competent agencies for issuance of 33 legal documents related to specialized inspections and business conditions.

Some ministries and agencies have issued lists of goods subjected to specialized inspections but evaluation of impacts has not been carried out as required by the Government, said Dung who is also the Cabinet Spokesman.

In 2019, the Taskforce will focus on inspecting institutional building and implementation of the Government’s Resolutions No. 01/NQ-CP and No. 02/NQ-CP, and environmental protection among others, according to Dung.

The Taskforce is the first and one of three teams that Phuc established since he became Prime Minister in 2016. The two others are the Economic Advisory Group headed by Dr. Vu Viet Ngoan, and the Taskforce on inspecting performance of public duties led by Minister of Home Affairs Le Vinh Tan./.
