VN, Cambodia vow to build shared borderline of peace and development

The conference drew the attendance of 200 Vietnamese and Cambodian officials. 

The two leaders expressed their satisfaction with the cooperation and development among border provinces following the 9th conference (in March, 2017). So far, respective ministries and agencies have introduced policies and measures; and inked documents which created favorable foundation for border cooperation.

Border localities and their residents proactively exchanged delegations and implemented specific cooperation activities; and supported each other. National defense and security in border areas were safeguarded. Border trade grew constantly. 

The two sides highlighted the importance of security and border cooperation to preserve peaceful and stable environment; agreed to implement specific and regular plans to prevent transnational crimes.

They were determined to promoting economic linkages especially among border provinces; focusing on transport lines, electricity, tourism, telecom, as well as banking. The two sides targeted to early ink the Border Trade Agreement; put a new-modal market at Da commune, Memot district, Tbong Khmum into operation; and ink a new protocol to amend the previous one on implementation of the Viet Nam-Cambodia Road Transport Agreement and a memorandum of understanding on Viet Nam-Cambodia waterway transport agreement. 

Both sides also agreed to boost investment and support border provinces via multilateral programs or sub-region in the Southeast Asian region./.
