DPM: Aviation safety is special mission

Deputy PM Binh who is also the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Security Committee made the point at a summary meeting of the Committee in 2018 and tasks for 2019. 

Deputy PM Binh announced that in 2018, the aviation transport market was stable. Domestic and foreign airlines handled 104 million guests, representing a year-on-year growth of 10.4%. Meanwhile, 1.5 million tons of cargos were transported, up 7.7%.Vietnamese airlines served  50 million guests (up 14%) and 400,000 tons of goods (up 36%). The Vietnamese aviation market attracts 68 airlines from 25 foreign countries and territories. 

As of late December 2018, the Vietnamese plane fleet had 219 aircraft and 22 airports (including eight international ones).

As the aviation sector recorded surges in operation scale, service, quality, number of passengers and goods, safety work has been maintained 22 years without an accident. 

Viet Nam is still a safe and attractive destination in the eyes of foreign guests and investors. Aviation safety management has been implemented systematically. Relevant agencies engaged in advance recue processes. 

However, Deputy PM Binh noticed some shortcomings including security risks and inadequate aviation safety infrastructure. 

He tasked the Committee to ensure absolute aviation safety by collecting comments from ministries, agencies, and localities to perfect its reports and working programs. Localities and unites were assigned to fulfill their tasks and ensure aviation safety. 

The Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of National Defense were asked to perfect the legal system and policies on aviation safety in line with international law. 

The Deputy PM also stressed the importance of exchanging information safety and applying new technologies in safety management. 

Localities and ministries were asked to promote fire prevention dissemination and tighten trading of explosive materials, burning substances, biochemical toxic substances in and surrounding areas of airports./.
