UK gives priority to cooperation with VN

VGP – The United Kingdom (UK)’s Government continues to giving priority to the cooperation with Viet Nam.

The UK’s Minister of State for Asia and the Pacific of the Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Office Mark Field made that statement at his meeting with Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh on January 2 in Ha Noi. 

At the meeting, Deputy PM Minh welcomed the outcomes of the Viet Nam-UK deputy foreign minister-level political consultation held on the same day between Mr. Mark Field and Vietnamese Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son. 

He also highly spoke of positive developments in Viet Nam-UK Strategic Partnership in crucial areas such as politics-diplomacy, trade-investment, education-training, defense-security, climate change adaption and peace-keeping activities within the United Nations framework. 

The Vietnamese leader suggested the UK’s Government urge the EU to soon ink and approve the Viet Nam-EU Free Trade Agreement, applauding the UK’s proposal to boost two-way trade and investment after the UK officially leaves the EU. 

Mr. Minh highly appraised the role of the UK on the world’s security and development issues, agreeing that the two sides will enhance close coordination at multi-lateral forums to ensure international and regional peace, stability and development.

For his side, Mr. Mark Field highly valued Viet Nam’s socio-economic development achievements as well as international integration and effectiveness in the two nations’ cooperation, confirming that the UK’s Government continues to giving priority to cooperation with Viet Nam.
